Mr. Onkar S. Kanwar
Chairman and Non-Executive Director

Onkar S Kanwar is the Chairman of Apollo Tyres Ltd., India's largest automotive tyre manufacturing company. As a visionary entrepreneur, he plays a pivotal role in the company's operations and the articulation of its business philosophy.

Innovation, quality and exclusivity are his guiding principles, which have steered Apollo Tyres to become a leader in the Indian market by implementing a number of pioneering initiatives in the spheres of product, marketing, R&D and manufacturing. Registered in 1976, Apollo Tyres under his leadership transformed itself from an Indian tyre manufacturer of commercial vehicles to a global entity with a full-fledged product portfolio, spanning over 3 continents.

Onkar Kanwar also has astute business acumen and interests in healthcare services. The first state-of-the-art, super specialty hospital, Artemis Hospitals, has been established in Gurgaon, India. Artemis Hospitals is looking to redefine customer care and facilitation by using the latest technology, under some of the best doctors, to enable faster disease identification and cure.

As a business leader, Onkar Kanwar has been closely associated with leading national and international industry organisations. He is a past President of FICCI & ICC India, a former Director with the India's ECGC and KSIC, and former Chairman of ATMA.

An initiative which is close to his heart is Apollo Tyres' HIV-AIDS awareness and prevention programme for the trucking community, implemented through Health centres located in large trans-shipment hubs across India. A science and administration graduate from the University of California, Onkar Kanwar lives in New Delhi. He has two sons and a daughter. An extensively travelled individual, with an ear for Indian and Western classical music, he is also a keen student of modern management practices and their successful application in businesses.


Ms. Shalini Kanwar Chand
Non-Executive Director

Mrs Shalini Kanwar Chand is the executive director of CATL Singapore, a subsidiary of CATL India. CATL is part of the USD 2.8 billion Apollo Tyres Group which is engaged in the supply of tubes, bladders and equipment for the tyre industry in India and overseas.

In addition, Mrs. Chand is adept and experienced in working in the hospital & healthcare industry. She is proficient and vastly accomplished in multifarious functions of running a business-Negotiation, Business Planning, Entrepreneurship, Strategic Planning Business Development and Team Building.

Mrs Shalini Kanwar Chand was involved in refining and upgrading the Raunak Public School and the Apollo International School in Gurgaon, India.

She is the Founder and Chairperson of Pristine International Holdings Pte Ltd. Pristine International Holdings Pte Ltd is a SME investment company. The company  minutely looks into the business opportunities with a holistic view to widen the entrepreneurial base. This is done by providing start up and business expansion capital for setting up futuristic conscious businesses. The firm also makes investments in global real estate.

Mrs Shalini Kanwar Chand graduated from the University of Delhi and pursued her Master’s Degree specialising in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy from the Swinburne University of Technology, Australia. She propelled forward in her educational journey with several courses from the Academy of Human Development Singapore in association with Edith Cohen and is consummate in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. Apart from CBT she is well versed with a range of therapies like solution focus therapy, suicide assessment and intervention, emotional focus therapy, understanding and supporting students with learning difficulties and dealing with grief and losses.  This made her delve further into counselling from 2008-2010 in Singapore namely at the National Kidney Foundation Children’s Kidney Centre, National University Children’s Medical Institute, the Leukaemia and Lymphoma Foundation, Nightingale Nursing Homes, Henderson Home for the Aged and various community centres in Singapore.

Mrs Shalini Kanwar Chand attended the Harvard Business School where she completed a course designed especially for female professionals. A New Path: Setting New Professional Directions. The program was designed to assist women at various levels in their careers in diverse industries as well as to assess and reshape their goals, both personal and professional, by examining their interests, skills, talents and motivations.

Mrs Shalini Kanwar Chand also completed a London Business School Spouse/Partners Leaders as Entrepreneurs' Programme course which offered her to tap into and strengthen her own inherent entrepreneurial instincts and leadership qualities. This helped hone her inherent talent to lead all the different kinds of organizations that she is deeply involved in.

Mr. Neeraj Kanwar
Non-Executive Director

Mr Neeraj Kanwar is the Vice Chairman & Managing Director of Apollo Tyres. He began his career with Apollo Tyres as Manager, Product & Strategic Planning, where he played a crucial role in creating a bridge between the two key functions of manufacturing and marketing. In 1998, he joined the Board of Directors and was promoted to Chief, Manufacturing and Strategic Planning. His people management skills helped him bring about overarching changes in industrial relations, upgradation of technology and benchmarking on product and efficiency parameters.

As a business leader, Neeraj Kanwar is associated with leading industry associations and was recently the Chairman of the Automotive Tyre Manufacturer’s Association, India. Neeraj Kanwar is a people-centric leader and believes in empowering employees to enable them to undertake effective and efficient decisions at all times. He is known for his affable management style, and combine work with liberal doses of fun.


Dr. Nirmal Kumar Ganguly
Non-Executive Director

Dr. Nirmal Kumar Ganguly is a distinguished biotechnology research professor at the National Institute of Immunology, New Delhi. He is also the President of Jawaharlal Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research, Pondicherry. He is the former Director General of the Indian Council of Medical Research. His major research areas include Tropical Diseases, Cardiovascular Diseases, and Diarrheal Diseases. His area of expertise is Infectious Diseases. His interests encompass the disciplines of Immunology, Biotechnology and Public Health. He is  fellow at the All Indian National Science Academics. He is also fellow at several international organizations, including Royal College of Pathologists (London), the Imperial College Faculty of Medicine (London), the Third World Academy of Sciences (Italy), and the International Academy of Cardiovascular Sciences (Canada).

Dr. Ganguly has won numerous national and international awards and received the prestigious Padma Bhushan Award in Medicine.


Dr. S Narayan
Independent Director

Dr. Narayan, IAS (Retd.) served the Government of India as Finance & Economic affairs Secretary. Dr. Narayan was also secretary in the Department of Revenue, Petroleum and Industrial Development. He has experience of 40 years in implementation of economic policies and monitoring of the special economic agenda of the cabinet on behalf of the Prime Minister of India.


Dr. Sanjaya Baru

Dr. Sanjay Baru is one of India’s most respected and influential commentators on political and economic issues. After serving as a consulting senior fellow at the IISS from September 2008, he became the first director of Geo-economics and Strategy at the International Institute of Strategic Studies (IISS), London and is a honorary Senior Fellow and member of Governing Board, Centre for Policy Research, New Delhi. In the past, Dr. Baru was the official spokesman and media advisor of the Prime minister of India and has also served as the Editor of  Business Standard, Chief Editor of the Financial Express and as the Associate Editor of the Economic Times and The Times of India.


Mr. Akshay Kumar Chudasama

Mr. Akshay Kumar Chudasama is the partner of a leading legal firm, Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas. He has been practicing Law since 1994 and specializes in Mergers & Acquisitions, Joint Ventures, Cross Border Investments, Private Equity, Real Estate, Hospitality, Franchising and Media & Entertainment Law.


Dr. Devlina Chakravarty
Executive Director

Dr. Devlina Chakravarty started her career in 1993 as a Radiologist trained from Mumbai University. She did her fellowships/ perceptorship programmes from University of Berlin (Germany), UCLA (Los Angeles) and Brigham & Women (Boston) in Head and Neck & Body Imaging. She worked as senior faculty and Programme Director in Radiology in different reputed hospitals in Delhi before joining Artemis Medicare Services Limited (AMSL). She strongly believes in ethical practices in healthcare and quality of service. She is a process and system driven person and believes strongly in “quality” and “efficiency” in healthcare. Good medical outcomes, patient safety, infection control are things that are very close to her heart.
