Suresh (name changed), a 52-year-old man, was rushed to Artemis Hospital, Gurgaon, after collapsing at home with the worst headache of his life, followed by vomiting and brief loss of consciousness. His family noticed he was disoriented and unable to speak clearly. A rapid neurological assessment and an emergency CT scan of the brain revealed a subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) caused by a ruptured brain aneurysmβ€”a life-threatening condition that required immediate intervention.

Recognising the critical situation, the Neurosciences team at Artemis Hospitals quickly stabilised him and performed a CT angiography, which confirmed a ruptured aneurysm in the anterior cerebral artery. Given the high risk of re-bleeding, the team recommended an urgent endovascular coiling procedure, a minimally invasive technique used to block blood flow into the aneurysm and prevent further rupture.

Suresh was swiftly taken to the neuro-interventional suite, where specialists navigated a microcatheter through a blood vessel from the groin to the aneurysm site. Using precision and advanced imaging guidance, they deployed platinum coils to seal the aneurysm. The procedure was successful, and bleeding was controlled in time.

Following the intervention, Suresh was monitored in the Neuro Intensive Care Unit (NICU) for potential complications such as vasospasm or hydrocephalus. Over the next several days, his neurological condition improved steadily. His speech returned to normal, the headaches reduced, and repeat scans showed stable results.

Today, Suresh has made a strong recovery and is back to his daily routineβ€”a powerful reminder that quick action and advanced neuro-interventional treatment can save lives in critical moments.
